Setting the Scale from Plans

1. Click the Scale button on the left menu to set the scale.

2. The scale options will appear in the top digitizing window.

3. To calculate the scale from the plans, click the From Image option (some versions say From Plans). The software will prompt the user to digitize two points on the plans. Digitize two points of known distance apart. For example a doorway or a wall on known length or the scale bar. Then input the distance apart between the points. The software will then calculate the scale.

4. Calculating the scale from the plans is useful if the plans have been copied a few times resulting in enlargement or shrinking.

5. If using Metric units, input the scale from the keyboard how many cms is 1 cm on the plans. For example 1:100, 1 cm is 100 cm. Also the scale can be calculated from the plans for metric units as described above.
