"Accu-Trace" Digitizing

More accurate and better digitizing

Previously when digitizing contours, users had two choices, tracing a curve with the pen stylus or cursor or digitizing specific points along the contour. Tracing had the disadvantage of not exactly following the contour resulting in inaccuracies of the calculated area and wiggly lines on screen. Point by point digitizing resulted in straight lines between points and calculated areas being smaller than actual areas.

Plan Plus 2009 and Plan 2009 have a much more accurate "Accu-Trace" digitizing. With the new version of the software, digitize the contour using points at any desired frequency, for example every inch or half inch. The program will then curve fit a very accurate, smooth curve through the digitized points (a cubic Bezier curve) and calculate a contour based on the digitized points. Contour areas are very accurate, digitizing is faster, and better smoother contours on screen and in reports.

No other digitizing program has "Accu-Trace" digitizing or accuracy.

User Accounts

When starting 2009 Plan Plus and 2009 Plan the user can load or create an individual user account with their own individual settings for the software. Several users of the software on a single computer can save their own work and data subdirectories and have them automatically loaded when they start the software. This will solve all of the file access errors causes by multiple users on a single computer.

Digitizer Driver Compatibility

The 2009 versions are fully compatible with the latest versions of Windows including Windows XP, Vista, and the new Windows 8. In Oct 2004, the tablet manufacturers changed their Wintab drivers (due to a lawsuit filed and settled by another company). The 2009 Update is fully compatible with the new versions of the windows drivers.

Network Version

Starting with the 2009 Plan Plus and 2009 Plan, companies can purchase a network license allowing multiple installs of the software and limited number of concurrent users. For example buy a network license with one concurrent users, 2 concurrent users, 3 concurrent users, etc.

New Volume Calculations

We have changed the volume calculations for maps with multiple highs resulting in more accurate volume calculations. In the previous versions of the software, all contours of the same height were added together and then a volume calculation performed. In 2009 Plan and Plan Plus, only those contours with higher contours will be used for the base area in the volumetric calculations. Point contours have been added to help with the volume calculations by specifying the height of each hill.

2007 Update Features

In the 2007 update we added an on-digitizer menu for faster and more convenient digitizing, pdf output for reports, new gas calculations, and further windows and digitizer support.

"Expertise Assistance":

• Does the total area of the contours decrease as the isopach thickness increases

• Was the correct map scale used

• Was the tablet resolution set correctly

• Were proper values used to compute OOIP and OGIP

• Are the areas and volumes of the leases proportional to the whole map

• Are the sink holes digitized correctly

• What value should be used for the top thickness
