. Manual Entry of:
(A) Site Measurements and
(B) Scaled Drawings.
2. Use the
DISTO Interface, to input site
measurements directly into the software. Select your product for the
room and print off your priced report. Just that Fast! Just
that Easy!
3. "Take-off performed on a Room by Room
Basis" – Digitize in the room dimensions, add or stack all
products specified for that particular area i.e. floor and wall
products including borders/elevation, baseboard,
corners, transition strips, weld rod, and misc., completing each
room in its entirety before advancing to the
next room.
4. "Digitizing areas on a Product by Product Basis" – i.e.
do all areas receiving carpet, then all areas
receiving hardwood, then sheet vinyl…and finish with baseboard.
5. Utilizing a seaming template configure your drawing to
display roll goods in drops and fill pieces.
Then using the border button application, continuous add
all the drop lengths of a particular roll good
product and finish by digitizing in the remaining fill pieces.
(Currently one of the fastest formats of
blueprint reading! Supplies the additional advantage of
controlling strategic placement of roll
goods throughout the floor plan.)
6. "Take-off performed on a Room by Room Basis" with
baseboard being added in at the same time
your room dimensions are digitized for the flooring
material (door size deduct is automatic). Or save
time by using the trace mode to accumulate the total baseboard
requirement.
7. "Take-off performed on a Room by Room Basis" verses tracing
the product’s total floor plan square
footage. The advantage of digitizing tile type
products in on a room by room basis is to achieve a more
accurate account of product quantities. This is possible by
the software's unique ability to consider
both product dimensions and room dimensions in its calculation
i.e. rounding up to a full tile or
splitting the tile in half. The trace mode application
benefits the user by increasing the overall speed of
operation causing a substantial reduction in time elements
associated in doing the take-off. This particular
style of take-off is quite common to our industry as most are
accustomed to adding on a margin or percentage
for waste. (Basically 2 different takeoff options – both
supplying different results in speed, time and
product quantities)
8. In the case of typical room environments, use of the
range entry plus include dimensions option, only 1
area needs to be digitized in order for the software to reproduce
the total number of typical rooms
for you. i.e. extended care units, motels, hotels, apartments
and condominium units. 50 typical rooms would
appear as 50 line items in your reports.
9. Alternative method to item (8) would be to digitize in your
room or area dimensions and then
indicate the number of typical or like rooms in the value
field. 50 typical rooms would now appear as
2 line items in your reports. First line represents
quantities for 1 typical room and the second line
reflects a total quantity for 49 additional rooms.
10. The criteria for selecting between the 9 techniques of
take-off listed above, would largely depend
on:
- User Preference
- Job Environments
- Detailing of Drawings
As well, there may come the time when due to the nature of your
project, it warrants that all 9
techniques are incorporated into the 1 estimate, all at the same time.
It’s just nice to know that
these options are available to you, should you need to exercise them.
