The FastPIPE system was designed from the ground up to maximize speed and ease-of-use under the Microsoft Windows environment. All FastPIPE screens have the standard Microsoft Windows look-and-feel and are mouse-enabled. In fact, if you already know how to use other Microsoft Windows programs, you will probably already know how to use many of the features within FastPIPE!

To illustrate the advantages of interactive display graphics, consider the task of creating or modifying a hanger assembly. With FastPIPE, you define hanger specifications for a job by using the mouse to choose each component of the hanger assembly from pull-down menu lists (even nuts and bolts) . No special codes or function keys to remember!

Built-In Assemblies

FastPIPE includes hundreds of "built-in" HVAC and plumbing assemblies ready for use in a takeoff. These assemblies can be copied into any job and modified as required.

Furthermore, you can build your own assembly libraries or reuse those from previous jobs, saving even more time.

Customized Specs

FastPIPE allows you to define customized specs and takeoff screens for each individual job. You can also build your own library of specs and takeoffs, virtually eliminating the need to build them from scratch. When creating a new job, you will normally create the specs by copying from the global list. Once you have copied the global spec into your job, you can make any minor changes using the Spec Editor.

Note that the specification consists of the size and component details for all Pipe, Fittings, Valves, Flanges, Hangers, Hanger Spacing, Insulation, and Specialties required for the job. To change an individual specification, you simply select the new elements from the lists provided.

Once changes to the spec are complete, you can proceed with takeoff. Note that elements of the takeoff screen are customized based on the contents of the individual spec, allowing FastPIPE to perform detailed error checking (further reducing the chance of a mistake!)

FastPIPE includes a large selection of standard specs for common systems such as domestic water, below-grade waste, gas, steam piping, etc.

These specs can be easily copied from one job to another to using the spec management screens.

Takeoffs are fast with FastPIPE. To takeoff an item, you simply select the size and appropriate Pipe, Valve, Fitting, Flange, Hanger, or Specialty item. After entering the quantity, the item is automatically added to the takeoff list in the lower left-hand corner of the screen. And your hand never has to leave the mouse!

Quantities can be entered by a single click of the right mouse button (count by one's), by clicking on the visible keypad, or by entering the quantity using the 10-key number pad. For Pipe, you can even take advantage of a digitizer to measure the lengths, making entry of quantities even faster! Detailed information on the current takeoff item are always visible in the upper right-hand corner in the information window.

Digitizer Interface

The FastPIPE system was designed to work with a large number of commercial digitizers available from vendors such as GTCO Calcomp, and many others. Chances are, if you already have a digitizer, it will work with our system!

The complete list of digitizer vendors we support include AceCad, Altek, CalComp, GTCO, Hitachi, Houston Instruments, Kontron, Kurta, Mitsubishi, Numonics, Summagraphics, and Wacom. Also, if you have the correct type of pointing device, we can make it work as the windows mouse as well...

Output To Excel®

FastPIPE allows you to download labor and material takeoff to a Microsoft Excel. spreadsheet for your final bid summary. Our standard spreadsheet includes equipment, fixtures, labor rates, rentals, taxes, and many other job related costs. You can even customize this spreadsheet to meet your business needs!

Job information is organized into multiple sheets that allow you to conveniently enter additional cost and estimating data. This information is then rolled up into a Recap sheet which provides all bid summary information. Also, you don't have to worry about losing changes in your spreadsheet if you update the takeoff. With the click of the mouse, FastPIPE can update the labor and material takeoff for existing worksheets as easily as new ones!
