Questions & Answers

Driver instructions for Rollup 1,2,3

The Logic Group digitizing software can be used with or without the windows wintab driver, other vender software will generally require the windows driver. The digitizer can be used connected to the computer with either the serial port or usb port (using a serial to usb adapter from radio shack). A digitizing tablet manual is not needed to use the digitizer but one is available for download from the www.gtcocalcomp website.

Installation using the wintab driver

See Wintab Installation Wizard

Installation without the Wintab Driver

1. If the Wintab driver/Tabletworks has been installed you can either uninstall the driver or temporarily disable the driver while using our software.

– To permanantly remove the driver, go to the Windows Control Panel (click Start, Settings, Control Panel), click Add/Remove Programs, choose the GTCO Calcomp Tablet Driver, click remove. You may need to restart your computer.
– To temporarily disable the driver, click the Tabletworks icon or click Start, Programs, GTCO Tabletworks, Tabletworks, then click Remove Tablet.

2. Our software communicates to the tablet through the serial port. If want to use the usb port you will need to a serial to usb adapter available from our office or many computer and electronic stores. The serial to usb adapter will have a driver that configures the usb port for a serial port. Install this driver and set the serial port to com port 3 or com port 4.

3. Our software uses the S12 configuration on the digitizing tablet. On the tablet digitize the S button the 1 button and the 2 button.

4. You will need the Custom Configuration Menu card that was included with the digitizer. If you do not have one, call our office and we can fax you one. Place the Custom Configuration Menu on the tablet. Digitize the P button on the tablet, then Point 1 on the custom configuration mneu and then point 2 on the menu, Then click the Line button under the mode options.

5. To save this configuration, on the tablet digitize the S button, the 9 button, and the 0 button. The next time you use the software digitize the S90 and you will not need to use the custom configration menu.

6. Start our software, click Digitize New, at the top menu, click Setup, Tablet Setup. Change the default tablet driver from “Wintab Any Manufacturer” to “Generic Tablet Driver”, check the size and com port. Click Install. Click Show Driver. Change the baud rate to 9600, the parity to none, data bits 8, stop bits 1, all commands should be blank, use any button to digitize, 14 bytes, 1000 resolution, ASCII output, x start 2, x length 5, y start 8, y length 5, last byte LF.

7. Click Done, click Test XY, digitize a point, you should get an x and a y. Any problems email us at jwalsh@logicgroup.com or call 512-263-0118.
