Logdigi Installation Notes
Logdigi Installation Notes
1. Run the LogdigiInstall program, if prompted for a security password,
input ______. The program should be installed in the C:\TLG\LOGDIGI
folder.
2. To start the program in windows, click Start, My Computer, Local Disk
C:, TLG folder, LOGDIGI folder. Double click Logdigi2 to start.
3. The program is written in Turbo Pascal and does not support changing
folders. All digitizing files should be created in the c:\TLG\LOGDIGI
folder.
4. See the Logdigi manual for information on using the software
Windows Vista
To run under Windows, the program must be
run using the DOSBOX emulator. Download the emulator from:
http://www.dosbox.com/download.php?main=1
It is the Windows 0.72 windows win32 installer.
DOSBOX installs easy enough - I put it directly under the
c drive (C:\DOSBox). Start it and then it comes up with a z: prompt.
Now mount the directory containing Logdigi, which for me was: Z:>
mount C "C:\" -- just put whatever your path to it is. Next go:
Z:> CD C:, then cd tlg\logdigi. Type Logdigi2 to start the program.
Serial vs USB Ports
1. The digitizing tablet can be connected to the serial port or the USB
port however the Logdigi software is expecting the tablet to be
connected using the serial port. A special cable and driver is required
if using the usb port. You cannot use the usb cable that comes with the
newer digitizing tablets (rollup 3, drawingboard 6, super l6)
Serial Port
1. If using the serial port, make sure the cable is connected to either
serial com port 1 or serial com port 2 on the computer. To change the
serial port in the Logdigi software, start the program and choose setup.
2. If you have trouble using the serial port, try using a usb port with
the serial to usb adapter as described below.
USB Port
1. If using the usb port, a serial to usb adapter must be used along
with the serial to usb driver. We recommend the Radio Shack serial to
usb adapter. Some people have used the Belkin with success. The key to
success is to install the adapter driver that comes with the adapter
that turns the usb port into a serial port.
2. Connect the serial to usb adapter to the usb port of the computer. Do
not connect the serial cable of the digitizer to the adapter until after
installing the driver.
3. Install the serial to usb driver that came with the serial to usb
adapter. If using the radia shack adapter the cd is well hidden in the
back packaging of the box.
4. After installing make sure the com port is set between com1 to com 2.
To check or change the com port settings, click Start, Control Panel,
System (If System icon not shown, click Switch to Classic View),
Hardware tab, Device Manager Button, double click Ports, double click
Radio Shack USB to Serial, Port Settings tab, Advanced, change the com
port. If it says the com port is already is ude, go ahead and choose it.
5. Occassionally when rebooting windows it will change the serial port.
If you loose communication, check the serial port using the above step.
Digitizing Tablets
Logdigi communicates directly to the digitizing tablet through the
serial port (or usb port using the adapter) and does not use any wintab
or tabletworks driver. If you have a new digitizer do not install the
wintab or tabletworks driver. If the driver is already installed either
temporarily disable the driver while using Logdigi or uninstall the
driver. If you have troubles digitizing download and install the
following test program:
http://www.logicgroup.com/bhlpiy/XYPointInstall.exe
To start the test program, click start, programs, the logic group, xy
point

3. The switch settings on the digitizer must
be checked to make sure they are the correct settings. To go into the
configuration mode place the pen/cursor over the config/exit box on the
digitizer and push a pen/cursor button. The digitizer should beep and
the configuration light come on. The config/exit button is on the upper
left corner of small digitizers and lower right corner on larger
digitizers. The switch settings are the boxes 1 thru 18. The power
light will be on if the switch is on and the power light is off if the
setting is off. To check the setting place the pen/cursor over the box
number without pushing a button on the pen/cursor. To change the
setting, push a button on the pen/cursor. There are also 2 or 3 banks of settings, Bank A, Bank
B, and on some Calcomp Drawingboard 3's a Bank C.
