Questions & Answers

Driver instructions for Summagraphics Summagrid 3 and Summagrid LCL

The Logic Group digitizing software can be used with or without the windows wintab driver, other vender software will generally require the windows driver. The digitizer can be used connected to the computer with either the serial port or usb port (using a serial to usb adapter from radio shack). A digitizing tablet manual is not needed to use the digitizer but one is available for download from the www.gtcocalcomp website.

Installation using the wintab driver

See Wintab Installation Wizard

Installation without the wintab driver:

1. If using the serial to usb adapter, attach the usb adapter to the computer first and install the serial to usb driver that came with the adapter (the cd is in the back packaging of the adapter). After installing make sure the com port is set from com1 to com4.

2. The switch settings are preset by The Logic Group and should be set at Switch A 1,4,5,6 on, Switch B 6 on, Switch C 1,6 on (for a 36x48 digitizer)

3. Attach the pointer to the digitizer, the serial cable to the digitizer and to the computer (or the serial to usb adapter), the power supply to the digitizer and wall output, turn the digitizer on, the tablet should beep and green light come on.

4. Install The Logic Group digitizing software, start the program, click digitize new, click setup tablet setup, change driver from "wintab any manufacturer" to "Generic Tablet Driver", choose the size, choose the serial port, click install, click show driver, make the following changes:

Baud Rate 9600, parity even, data bits 7, stops bits 2, point mode .027M1, track mode .027M2, other commands blank, use any button to digitize, 8 bytes, 1000 resolution, binary output, no echo

1 0 0
2 0 0
3 1 0
4 64 0
5 4096 0
6 0 1
7 0 64
8 0 4096

Press Ok, click text xy, digitize a point on the tablet, result should be x=xxxxx,y=yyyyy.

5. If using the serial to usb adapter occasionally windows will change the com port. If the wintab driver cannot find the tablet, check the serial to usb com port.
