Driver instructions for Summagraphics
Summasketch 1,2,3
The Logic Group digitizing software can be
used with or without the windows wintab driver, other vender software
will generally require the windows driver. The digitizer can be used
connected to the computer with either the serial port or usb port (using
a serial to usb adapter from radio shack). A digitizing tablet manual is
not needed to use the digitizer but one is available for download from
the
www.gtcocalcomp.com website.
Installation using the wintab driver
See Wintab Installation Wizard
Installation without the Wintab Driver
1. If using the serial to usb adapter, attach the usb adapter to the
computer first and install the serial to usb driver that came with the
adapter (the cd is in the back packaging of the adapter). After
installing make sure the com port is set between com1 to com4. To check
or change the com port settings, click Start, Control Panel, System (If
System icon not shown, click Switch to Classic View), Hardware tab,
Device Manager Button, double click Ports, double click Radio Shack USB
to Serial, Port Settings tab, Advanced, change the com port.
2. The digitizer has no switch settings that need to be checked or
changed.
3. Attach the pointer to the digitizer, the serial cable to the
digitizer and to the computer (or the serial to usb adapter), the power
supply to the serial cable and wall output, turn the digitizer on, the
tablet should beep and green light come on.
4. Install The Logic Group digitizing software, start the program, click
digitize new, click setup tablet setup, change driver from "wintab any
manufacturer" to "Summagraphics Summasketch", choose the size, choose
the serial port, click install, click the appropriate pointer - pen
stylus, 4 button cursor, 16 button cursor. Click text xy, digitize a
point on the tablet, result should be x=xxxxx,y=yyyyy.
5. If using the serial to usb adapter occasionally windows will change
the com port. If you could digitize previously but cannot now, check the
serial to usb com port as mentioned in step 1.
