Digitizer serial and usb cables and ports

1. New Digitizers - Most new digitizers are sold with only a USB cable, a serial cable and power supply is available for an additional $50. This will be needed if you only have a serial cable on your computer or if you want to use the VTablet wintab driver.

2. Old/Used Digitizers - Most older and used digitizer (pre 2007) come with a serial cable. This works for computers with a serial port. For computers with only a USB port, a serial to USB adapter is available from The Logic Group for $50.

3. Tabletworks Wintab Driver - This driver works with either a serial or usb cable.

4. VTablet Wintab Driver - This driver only works with a serial cable. The Logic Group has a method, called the VTablet USB Installation, for using this driver with a digitizer connected to a USB port.

5. Digitizing software that does not use the Wintab driver. Very few digitizing programs do not use the wintab driver and communicate with the digitizer directly. These programs require the digitizer to be connected to the computer through the serial port. The Logic Group has methods of using these programs through the USB port.
